WHAT AM I EXCITED ABOUT FOR 2023?

WHO ARE MY STUDENTS?
I've spent most of my time teaching students ages 18 to 80+ including musicians, Zumba teachers, retirees, wedding guests, triathletes, former military staff and new mamas. My students are at different stages in their yoga practice so lessons are designed to meet them where they are, and help them move forward. WHY DO I TEACH? Practicing yoga has been so helpful to me I really want to pass along what I've learned to others. I truly enjoy teaching and seeing my students gain confidence and new or renewed appreciation for their body. As a private and small group instructor I’m able to accommodate specific needs of my students by providing thoughtful challenges and guidance within the group. WHAT IS MY YOGA TEACHING AND FITNESS BACKGROUND? I grew up playing a variety of team sports starting at a young age and have worked through injuries with strength training, new techniques, physical therapy, and rest. Yoga in my 30's is a constant practice adjusting the tension of strength and flexibility in yoga poses while allowing myself time to rest and recover appropriately. I have been teaching since 2014 and draw from my personal yoga practice and formal training. I completed my formal 200 hour teacher training over nine months with the gifted teachers and students of Willow Street Yoga. This rigorous training allowed me to focus on the tradition of yoga, human anatomy, and instruction techniques. I've continued my learning by joining the weekly Satsang and group classes at Bhakti Yoga DC, mindfulness practice with Tara Brach and the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC, and completing a training in teaching restorative yoga with Tara Lemerise. In 2022 I completed short trainings on the Alexander Technique practices with Deena OH and have explored more FRC (Functional Range Conditioning) and Pilates techniques for myself and some of my classes. |
